There are times when you want to test your own physical endurance and skill. You know that what you need to get you motivated and get into the best shape your life is a challenge. It’s what you want and it’s what you need to be your best. You have heard about a thing called “endurance sports” on TV, but you aren’t sure what they are and which one of them is right for you. So you have some decisions to make about what you want to prepare your body for.
If you are a runner, or have always liked the idea of becoming a runner, then long distance running could be the right endurance sport for you. However, you must be warned that running long distances is something that can take extensive training to get good at and something that won’t always be easy. You should start off with a 5K and see if you like the challenge. If you do then you can gradually move up to something like a 10K or a half marathon. These races will take a toll on your body and if you can survive them then you can start thinking about the big distances.
If you are interested in switching things up and trying multiple sports than you might be ready to try a triathlon. This is a great opportunity to test your own limits and have fun working on a variety of techniques and disciplines. Once again, this is something that can take a big toll on your body and something you’d be best off starting slow on. You can try something they call a “sprint triathlon” which is much shorter distances. If that works out you might want to try the Olympic distance triathlon. Either way be sure to make certain you pick the endurance sport that is right for you.
